Bishop David Olaniyi Oyedepo hails from Omu Aran, Kwara State, Nigeria, and was born on September 27, 1954 into a mixed religious family – father being a Muslim healer and mother a member of the Holy Order of Cherubim & Seraphim Movement Church (C&S).

Being raised by his grandmother in Osogbo, Osun State, he was introduced to Christian virtues early in life.

He accepted Jesus as his Saviour in 1969, through his high school teacher, Betty Lasher, and received a mandate from God, through an 18-hour vision in May 1981, to liberate the world from all oppression of the devil through the preaching of the word of faith.

This led to the commencement of what is now known as Living Faith Church (AKA Winners Chapel International), which started in Kaduna State.

Bishop Oyedepo is a fierce man of faith; the founder of Winners Chapel, some educational institutions including Covenant University and Landmark University; an author of over 70 titles; the wealthiest preacher in Nigeria.

He is married to Faith Abiola Oyedepo, with four children.
